I've been writing as a medium to express myself, my ideas, dreams, and creativity for as long as I can remember. I would have a notebook I'd take to school to write down silly stories, and whatever daydreams I'd have throughout my day. I remember one time in middle school I wrote an almost 10-chapter novel, working at it every day. I still have the pages saved somewhere, and it serves as a lovely reminder that the little girl in me always believed in herself, even when others didn't.
Along with my love for writing, I also developed the habit of keeping a dream journal. Every morning, I would jot down all the crazy storylines my subconscious mind came up with while I slept. These stories have inspired many of the tales that I continue to work on to this day. While a blog is different from a dream journal, having the freedom and space to be creative without expectations is a liberating feeling that is hard to explain. We are so used to doing things within constraints, whether that be in academia, work, or even our self-imposed standards, that we seldom allow ourselves to be free.
Unfortunately, I didn't allow myself to experience this kind of joy for a long time due to certain personal circumstances and my mental health struggles. I would abandon, for the most part, the things that brought me joy. However, when I did allow myself to indulge in it, I felt alive again.

In 2013 I joined the website called "We Heart It". It used to be an image-sharing site much like Pinterest, but it was also a community of people coming together to lift each other. They introduced articles sometime in 2017, and from there I saw myself blossom like a flower feeling the spring sun for the first time after a cold winter. I would do the little "tags" or "trends" that would be popular, but I also developed my original content. I talked about traveling, love, heartbreak, university, mental health, and unity. I had the best of times being creative again, and letting my little heart run wild with expression. It was cathartic.
In 2018 I was fortunate enough to join the Official We Heart It Writer's Team to write, edit, and post articles on their verified channels. I wrote alongside many incredibly talented people who were all equally passionate about this creative medium, and the community we had formed. They gave us complete creative freedom in what to write about and sometimes they would have extra prompts to join for a certain month, which would allow whoever signed up to have more opportunities to publish an extra piece. This time in my life was filled with so many ups and downs, from university, homesickness, and other stress factors, however, I look back very fondly to these memories, for I had so much fun creating these pieces for the community.
The Writer's Team unfortunately only lasted until the end of 2019. That's when WHI started to have major changes in its company, and the Writer's Team was completely deserted and left without answers. So, a group of us decided to form our team, which came to be known as the WHI Gazette. We had fun with this new group and continued to cultivate a community of kind, supportive people across the platform. We'd come up with themes for each month and would go on to elevate each other's content, as well as uplift the community when it seemed as if the platform itself had abandoned its users.

This lasted until 2022 when We Heart It closed its doors forever. They completely rebranded and closed the website platform, deleting everyone's profiles, and years of collections, images, and articles that they'd worked so hard to curate. Now, it's a boring, dead, photo editing app with no community, no personality, and no heart. I took time away from writing, once more, after having my work crushed in front of me. It wasn't until the end of 2023 that I decided to take back control of my narrative and push forward.
Today, I'm working on my own stories while I work a full-time job, and also preparing to attend university for my Master’s degree. However, I miss having a space to write about my thoughts, share the books I'm reading, and build a little community as I used to when I wrote for WHI. So, I've created my corner of the internet to let my full creative freedom flow!

I would like to provide a secure and nurturing space for us to connect, communicate, and grow together. I believe in the power of healthy discourse and constructive feedback, which is why I have included a comment section in every post of mine. I am open to all your opinions and suggestions.
